About

Trolling Angles is an app that allows a fisherman to accurately determine the depth of a lure or bait while trolling.

Trolling Angles is currently available for Android on Google Play and for the Apple iPhone on the App Store.

Trolling Angles is developed and distributed by D. A. Silkworth Software LLC, an independent software developer.

Patent Summary

US Patent 11473893 protects the method and the means used by the Trolling Angles app and described in the web site trollingangles.com

This method is: Measuring line lengths and line angles at the surface, assuming those angles remain unchanged as the fishing line is deployed deeper, and computing depth curve data consisting of a sequence of one or more curves derived from the measured line lengths and angles.  This method is protected regardless of the technology used to measure lengths and angles or to compute the curve.

Using a computing device and software to implement the method is also explicitly protected by the patent.

The patent also protects the Trolling Angles Autocline, a wireless fishing line angle measuring device.

Terms of Use Commentary

The Trolling Angles app software is copyrighted intellectual property.

Trolling Angles is provided to customers only for private non-commercial use. Everyone who uses the app is subject to the Terms of Use presented and agreed to upon opening the app for the first time.

  • Measuring and generating trolling depth curves and selling them to others, or providing them to the public.
  • Using trolling depth curves to provide the trolling/diving depth of a lure offered for sale.
  • Using trolling depth curves to test, verify, or compare depth curves generated by any other method and provided for commercial consideration.

Using Trolling Angles to help catch fish on a guided trip, charter, or commercial fishing boat is expressly permitted.
